Buy or rent a Chevy Impala SS, load several Gleason albums onto your Pod, find the nearest long highway, throw your two friends-Rand and McNally-into the back seat, and just GO! Good for whatever ails 'ya! (Either the '96 or the '15 model-doesn't matter-both have the mojo-I've got a '15 model.)

These slow moody albums were actually conducted by combinations of Billy May and Bobby Hackett. It has been said that Jackie Gleason didn't know a note of music. But he sure knew his music.

such a compilation should be must listening for music students and played for even little babies...that is how mellow this sounds wow! compared to all the hard sounds of some of the music today...this music feels like a caress...upon the ears and soul...Jackie Gleason where are you????!!!

I first heard this in the mid-60s on a UK pirate radio station, Radio 390. It took me nearly 40 years to find the album and hear it again. Gleason's famous lack of musical training does not square with this very clever arrangement. The divine intro - and then that lazy baritone sax! So the stories of Billy May and others being the power behind his musical throne make utter sense.

Son of man!

The first time I heard this kind of music was in 1966 when I was stationed in NATTC Memphis. A woman I befriended, Barbara, was so very good to me. She and I spent many nights listening to Mr. Gleason's music to the wee small hours. I received orders to Viet Nam and put all that behind me. Four years later Married a wonderful woman, had three kids and often wondered if what she said when I had received my orders was true. she was having my baby. What wonderful memories of this soothing music.

This is the actual version by The Jackie Gleason Orchestra?; If so, what studio album did it actually come off of?
