I'm 33, listening in 2020.
Classics are classics for a reason. This song will sound true to everyone from a love sick teenager to a widowed 90 year old.
As I walk this land with broken dreams
I have visions of many things
But happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion
What becomes of the broken-hearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
Maybe
The roots of love grow all around
But for me they come a-tumblin' down
Every day heartaches grow a little stronger
I can't stand this pain much longer
I walk in shadowsm searching for light
Cold and alone, no comfort in sight
Hoping and praying for someone to care
Always moving and goin' nowhere
What becomes of the broken-hearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
Help me
I'm searching, though I don't succeed
But someone look, there's a growing need
Oh, he is lost, there's no place for beginning
All that's left is an unhappy ending
Now, becomes of the broken-hearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
I'll be searching everywhere
Just to find someone to care
I'll be looking everyday, I know I'm gonna find a way
Nothing's gonna stop me now
I'll find a way somehow
And I'll be searching everywhere
I know I gotta find a way
I'll be looking
Amazing
Simply amazing
It just doesn’t get better than this
Lyrics that tell a story
Music that speaks to your heart and tugs at your soul
Not like today’s vomit
When I posted this 9 years ago, I never imagined it would have 10 million views. I see just about every comment that gets posted on this video. The years have been filled with happy nostalgia, musical appreciation, and the depths of pain we humans experience separately, yet together. I hope this coming decade will bring us all happiness, fulfillment, and a more connected human spirit. Thanks for being here, and here's to you and yours. Cheers!
I am a proud Detroit resident and have been all my 61 years. I literally lived around the block from Motown that's on the Boulevard. My mom worked at the 20 Grand and we got a chance to see all the singers as they would perform in the Driftwood Lounge. We grew up listening to all types of music but Motown was always my siblings and I favorite music. We had all the music because back then you could order 10 albums for a penny. LOL. They would actually send the albums. I love Motown and the Motown sound will live on forever. My Playlist is full of Motown music.
Jimmy, David....the Ruffin boys was bad. Two different vocal sounds but unmistakably Ruffin all the way. This is a "classic" classic. David had more hits and many would say had a more powerful and dynamic voice but both possessed phenomenal vocal skills. This was an era of the greatest male voices in R&B music history. What we have now is bullshit. David could tear a song up one minute and sound sweet as sweet potato pie the next. His replacements were good but there was only one Ruffin.
