Fools rush in where angels fear to tread
And so I come to you, my love, my heart above my head
Though I see the danger there
If there’s a chance for me, then I don’t care
Fools rush in where wise men never go
But wise men never fall in love, so how are they to know?
When we met, I felt my life begin
So open up your heart and let this fool rush in
Fools rush in where wise men never, never, never go
Eh, but wise men never fall in love, so how are they to know?
Ahh, when we met, girl, I felt my life begin
So open up your heart and let this fool rush in
Just open up your heart and let this fool rush on in
Just open up your heart because I am coming in
Open up your heart and let this fool rush in!
I like this version along with Rick Nelson's version but my favorite is the Brook Benton version. If you haven't heard it, give it a listen and see what you think
You comment underlines the whole purpose of why I posted this song- It is a little known gem waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Thanks for your kind post. :o)
What a shock to find out she passed away and in an unpleasant way. Cancer is such a horrible disease.. My parents both died of lung cancer.. I loved her songs and courage to deal with a world that is far different from today. Her talent will be missed !!
Rest In Blessed Peace, Richard Beman
Lest we forget,
the music for this
classic was composed by Rube Bloom,
and the lyrics by
Johnny Mercer,
in 1940. The line
"fools rush in
where angels fear
to tread" first appeared in Alexander Pope's
poem: Essays In
Criticism," in 1711,
and has since entered the general English language as an odiom. Wish Ms.
Gore had recorded
more of these songs from THE
GREAT AMERICAN SONBOOK.
