It's such a shame that Mazzy Star got put in the "one hit wonder" category. They should have been bigger than that ONE song, because there are sooooooo many that are really really epic. Her voice has a wisp/elf quality, and the mellow music is definitely a mood changer. I know that I'm not alone in saying that it can be either very very sad and haunting, or it can make you feel good in a non-energized way.

First time I heard this song I was closing up my bar and it stopped me in my tracks. It was 1 am in Brooklyn about 4 years ago. I'm glad it was just me there at the time; I tried not to tear but since there was no one there I let the waterworks flow. You can just feel the emotion, the sincerity, the humanity in her voice. A truly haunting and beautiful voice.
