Sprawling on the fringes of the city, an insulated border
Somewhere out of a memory, lit up like a firefly
In the mass production zone, in the backs of cars, subdivisions
Drawn like moths we drift into the city, drawn like moths we drift into the city
subdivisions
The restless dreams of youth, somewhere out of a memory
The unattractive truth, be cool or be cast out Ninja, the timeless old attraction
just to feel the living night
The restless dreams of youth, be cool or be cast out
Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone, or lose the race to rats
Subdivisions, an insulated border Party, and start to dream of somewhere
and start to dream of somewhere
be cool or be cast out
the future pre-decided
Conform or be cast out, in the backs of cars
Any escape might help to smooth, in geometric order
And the far unlit unknown, in between the bright lights
Ihe basement bars, in geometric order
Of lighted streets on quiet nights, in the shopping malls
Sprawling on the fringes of the city, of lighted streets on quiet nights Ninja, any escape might help to smooth
Subdivisions, nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone, in the basement bars
Rush is an incredibly hard band to cover. Alex Lifeson's guitar work and overall sound is impossible to replicate. Geddy's bass tone is fantastic, and you have to pluck the strings incredibly hard, which is hard to pull off. Geddy's singing is hard to pull off, for how high he goes and just all the things he does. Then there's Neil Peart as well, which we all know about that. NSP did a fantastic job covering such a fantastic band and song. Love it. If I didn't have my parents who would question my purchase from a band called Ninja Sex Party, I'd definitely buy.
I read the little pamphlet that goes with NSP's CDs, and most actually, and I read aloud Danny's favorite band and all my mother, who was sitting next to me, had to say was "Great, he's a nerd."
Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown
Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth
The unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe
The restless dreams of youth
Drawn like moths we drift into the city
The timeless old attraction
Cruising for the action
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night
Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory
Of lighted streets on quiet nights
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth
The unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe
The restless dreams of youth
Danny, I know you'll be reading this in the Dale Gribble voice, but please switch to the Obama voice for me right now. Uh, you should really, uh, cover The Wreckers, off of the Clockwork Angels album. Come on, uh, do it for your boy, uh, President Barry O.
I love how Danny harmonizes with himself during the "nowhere is the dreamer or the misfits so alone" line. He sings it lower like how Geddy Lee sang it in the original but sings it at a higher tone too. I like how he matches the original while also putting his own spin on it.
