Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is fine
Oh, your daddy’s rich and your ma is good lookin'
So hush little baby, don’t you cry
One of these mornings
You’re goin' to rise up singing
Then you’ll spread your wings
And you’ll take the sky but till that morning
There’s a nothin' can harm you
With daddy and mammy standin' by
The thing I love most about this performance is that with such an amazing voice and vocal range Paul does not need to embroider it with vocalisations as is currently the fashion. The beauty of the melody and the voice carry the song through!
What a smooth deep real sound he projects.
Like you can feel the land and the deepness and
lving the blues in harmony with his being.
Robeson is the treasure we have forever.
Paul Robeson was one of the greatest singers that ever lived! Have most of his recordings and I never tire of listening to his voice. Read his biography "Here I Stand" and it makes me so sad that such a great man was persecuted simply for what he believed in.
my dad's favourite singer, I grew up to dad singing his tunes about the house, sometimes with mum on the piano, learned much about the great man's life since
Because this was the first version, that I ever heard, of this song; for me it will always be Paul Robeson's song. It is simply "Beautiful" and I still get a lump in my throat when I hear him sing it.
As a white english man Paul is my all time hero. With his great soul heart and love for all the poor people of the world I would be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with him
