I love it! Classic modern jazz never sounded so good! Henry Mancini was the man! And Ray Anthony's LIKE WILD was his best album ever!
Mancini's "Walkin' To Mother's" was never released by Mancini on records, only this track by Ray Anthony is available. "Fall Out" was the opening music in most episodes of the TV series, with the plot setup for the episode. I like Ray Anthony's version of "Peter Gunn" better than Mancini's original because Anthony added a sexy saxophone to the mix.
I'm in awe, I've been looking for all three of the sections of this song, I thought they were separate entities. Omg I'm in love, reminds me of my childhood
One of the best recordings in the genre, played loud on a good set or headphones this will hit you like truck. In the dark of night. Wearing a grey raincoat and a hat. It's magic.
Just listening to this immediately takes you to that smoky wharfside club, late night, neon lights, jazz beats and pretty broad hanging on the arms of the smart suited debonair PI.
I remember during the mid-sixties everything at night seem to be in black & white. Of course the movie theaters and other establishments had neon ads but the rest was in film noir.
