I m drowning in the river of my tears, what days have come to keep us far apart, you re only what i want
A broken promise or a broken heart, this old house is falling down around my ears, i m drowning in the river of my tears
you re only what i want
Come the night, i need you at the dimming of the day Of, why don t you come and ease your mind with me
I need you at the dimming of the day, i need you at the dimming of the day
You can be my confidant, a broken promise or a broken heart, come the night
i need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day, come the night, i need you at the dimming of the day
Come the night, now all the bonny birds have winged away
I m drowning in the river of my tears, why don t you come and ease your mind with me
I see you on the street in company, i need you at the dimming of the day
I m drowning in the river of my tears, you re only what i want, when all my will is gone
what days have come to keep us far apart
this old house is falling down around my ears
i m drowning in the river of my tears
you pull me like the moon pulls on the tides
Come the night, you can be my confidant
This old house is falling down around my ears, you know just where i keep my better side Day, i m ready for the night we steal away
Come the night, i need you at the dimming of the day
What days have come to keep us far apart, i need you at the dimming of the day
you hold me swaying
i m drowning in the river of my tears
I need you at the dimming of the day, i need you at the dimming of the day, i need you at the dimming of the day
I see you on the street in company, you re only what i want
I need you at the dimming of the day, i m ready for the night we steal away
Why don t you come and ease your mind with me, this old house is falling down around my ears
i see you on the street in company
i need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day, a broken promise or a broken heart
i m ready for the night we steal away
you pull me like the moon pulls on the tides
I need you at the dimming of the day, i need you at the dimming of the day
What days have come to keep us far apart, i see you on the street in company
You re only what i want, when all my will is gone
Come the night, i need you at the dimming of the day, i need you at the dimming of the day
Such a beautiful rendition and the sentiment expressed brings to mind a profound quote by Khalil Gibran.
"And ever has it been known that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation." x
It's sad and poetry and love. But it gives me peace and all I think is of the man I'm married to and how much I need him when he's sitting beside me. I've had the album longer than the husband and even then I just thought, that's how I want love. I will have nothing less than that depth. But I will never let a parting occur unless it's actual death. That hurts as well. I prefer my joyful perception.
Does anyone, like me, think that this is the best love song ever written? So understated yet every single line has a relevance to anyone who has loved and lost. In my opinion the song is a masterpiece! Ah well better sort out the house as it's in a bad way and it's getting dark!
This old house is falling down around my ears
I'm drowning in a river of my tears
When all my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the day
You pull me like the moon pulls on the tide
You know just where I keep my better side
What days have come to keep us far apart
A broken promise or a broken heart
Now all the bonnie birds have wheeled away
I need you at the dimming of the day
Come the night you're only what I want
Come the night you could be my confidant
I see you on the street in company
Why don't you come and ease your mind with me
I'm living for the night we steal away
I need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day
This old house is falling down around my ears
I'm drowning in a river of my tears
When all my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the day
You pull me like the moon pulls on the tide
You know just where I keep my better side
What days have come to keep us far apart
A broken promise or a broken heart
Now all the bonnie birds have wheeled away
I need you at the dimming of the day
Come the night you're only what I want
Come the night you could be my confidant
I see you on the street in company
Why don't you come and ease your mind with me
I'm living for the night we steal away
I need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day
Richard is an incredible guitarist but his phrasing is equaled by Linda's incredible vocals. Sandy Denny could have done no better. Truly a song for the ages.
Cool album. His guitar playing is great.
Ever since I heard his solo on Nick Drake's Five Leaves Left album for Time Has Told Me, I've been interested in finding out more.
Cool folk music man.
These two were so great together, and Dimming of the Day on of my all time favorite songs. For all of their public brawls, they sure made beautiful music together.
