I'm not dissing Jon Lord whatsoever, but it's hard to imagine Keith Emerson not being mentioned when it comes to keyboard greats. In terms of progressive rock, Emerson, Lake & Palmer (largely driven by Emerson's truly wondrous, ground breaking keyboard work) was prog rock royalty, along with Yes (Wakeman's band). I LOVE Deep Purple, and Lord was also classically trained, but I don't know that he covered all the genres that Wakeman or Emerson did. No disrespect intended.
How much beauty... Rick Wakeman is a great poet of the piano. A memorable, most fascinating interpretation indeed. Thank you, one-and-only Keyboards Wizard.
He's the last of the big 3. It was great seeing him with Jon Lord. It would have been better if Emerson was there. They all enjoyed and respected each other and it would have been nice if they could have worked together on a project.
when I read your statement I instantly thought of Jon Lord..Richard Wright, Keith Emerson..Tony Banks, not forgetting the very delicate position of a Gerry Woodruffe who still managed to shine of a great light, bless them all
