Best underdog/unsung/unapplauded band of the 90s.... if you listen to their stuff you'll hear why... Their music was before the download single days, where you would listen to the whole album to get the true vibe... I was 15 when I heard 'Going Blank Again' and it changed my outlook on EVERYTHING! Their influence is tangible in good bands of today but those bands will never be RIDE!
this song, the album its from, these were the first inklings of britpop coming, it became cheesy of course but in the early days between madchester and full on oasis/blur it was this lot that a) bridge the gap between 1990 and the start of the mid nineties indie second wave and b0 kicked it off with this stonking album
Ride were so prescient. In this song they clearly detected the nascent dissatisfaction associated with the digital world. Now we all know where it comes from. Put your smartphone away now.

This song is underrated and overlooked given the circumstances at the time (both album and Britpop veterans riding the wave). But it's one of the greatest songs released in this period.
Although "Carnival of Light" remains sometimes a bit poor, it desserves listenings ! Try the remixes included on that single too (made by Portishead, Andy Bell & Loz Colbert) ! Wish I was born earlier :)
