Robyn: wrote the original song, these beautiful lyrics and sang it with pep giving it one kind of meaning Callum: covers the song, brings his beautiful vocals and puts a melancholic spin on it giving a whole different kind of meaning Both should be appreciated for their contribution to music. Imo they should just do a cover together. Would be truly beautiful.

calum's version robs the song's meaning of its context. it's about being overcome with pain on a dancefloor, hence the euphoric production contrasting the sad lyrics. robyn is a master of combining melancholy and euphoria. calum's cover just misinterprets the sad aspect and takes it literally, pairing the sad lyrics with an extremely dreary cliche-sad instrumentation. makes it very boring and depressing, whereas the original is both heartbreaking and empowering at the same time. calum's version contains none of that nuance, but i guess the kind of people who consume x-factor productions prefer things to be very on-the-nose ¯\_(ツ)_/

I feel like Robyn doesn’t get enough credit for her song, like Calum built his whole career off this queen. This is honestly criminally under viewed

The fact that this pop classic never hit the Hot 100 just shows how irrelevant the charts are.

Everyone is talking about Robyn like she is making all this money off someone else. Robyn is an original singer from the 90s. Get your facts right before you open your mouth!!

This guy I used to date who fancied himself a total music snob was like, “I really like Robyn’s cover of Dancing on my own”. We broke up shortly after. Lol
