One more chain I break, to get me closer to you
One more chain does the maker make, to keep me from bustin' through
One more notch I scratch, to keep me thinkin' of you
One more notch does the maker make, upon my face so blue
Get along little doggies, get along little doggies
One more smile I fake, 'n try my best to be glad
One more smile does the maker make, because he knows I’m sad
Oh Lord, how I know,
Oh Lord, how I see, that only can the maker make a happy man of me Get along little doggies, get along little doggies, get along
Anyone who was ever forced to be away from someone they love must surely love this song. It expresses with simplicity and elegance that painful feeling. I love it.
Absolutely love this song. Warm, heart felt and relevant. Brokeback Mountain was so beautifully sad especially knowing that Heath isn't here to celebrate it.
Brokeback Mountain is devastatingly sad as is, but with Ledger's passing it has become almost impossibly devastating for me to bear. You see, when I watch a film where a character passes away, I desperately try to console myself with the thought that the actor himself is actually alive and well. I doubt I'm the only one who employs this technique. It's like a defence mechanism against sadness, for those who, like me, are greatly affected by the stories told in films. Only, with this film, it no longer works. The thought that Jack Twist was only a fictitious character and that Gyllenhaal is thankfully alive and well is of great consolation of course. However, the thought that Ledger passed away at such a tragically young age is heartbreaking. What an amazing man with so much to give, of which he had already given much during his relatively brief but truly brilliant career. Forever loved and greatly missed. RIP
One more chain I break
To get me closer to you
One more chain does the maker make
To keep me from bustin' through
One more notch I scratch
To keep me thinkin' of you
One more notch does the maker make
Upon my face so blue
Get along, little doggies
Get along, little doggies
One more smile I fake
And try my best to be glad
One more smile does the maker make
Because he knows I'm sad
Oh Lord, how I know
Oh Lord, how I see
That only can the maker make
A happy man of me
Get along little doggies
Get along little doggies
Get along
Ledger's death made this movie impossibly painful. Following his life, you could see how he struggled with his sexuality and unfortunately, it ended in the Hollywood fashion. As a gay man, it is beyond words sad to see such a promising light extinguished so soon and so needlessly. RIP, HL.
