"Eat an apple every day... Don't eat meat. Cut out sweets... Take good care of yourself..." This lady was way ahead of her time.

Hearing these songs from back in the day is like a little window into a different universe, where our grandparents were young, full of life, and getting set to take on the world. Music is the only art form that truly can warp time.

My grandmother was just buried today. I remember when I was a little booger she used to sing the chorus to this song to me as we (my brother and cousins) got our coats on in the winter to go outside and play at her house when visiting. "Button up your overcoat... you belong to me!" Sigh... I'll miss you grandmother.

Ha ha! This is practically 10% of everything my mom says to my dad! But seriously the guy eats way to much meat.

"Steer clear of frozen ponds, peroxide blondes, stocks and bonds..." She warned them of the stock market six months in advance. Apparently few listened.

I just discovered Ruth and I feel like I've already heard all her songs before?? Like they're somehow familiar to me even though I know I've never heard them before....Makes me smile.

I would sing this song to my three little girls when they were toddlers. They are 45, 37, and 35 now and still remember the words and happy memories.

Does anyone remember the movie "Love Me or Leave Me" from the 1950s? Doris Day played the part of Ruth Etting. One of my favorites.
