SPYRO GYRA "MORNING DANCE" ....SPYRO GYRA " CAFE AMORE" .....CHUCK MANGIONE "FEELS SO GOOD "....GEORGE BENSON " BREEZIN" .....JUST A FEW OF THE VERY BEST OF ALL TIME !!!
The sound of Jay Beckenstein blowing that alto sax is mind blowing on this track, along with Rubins Bassini on congas & percussion, David Samuels on steel drum, an instrument you rarely hear in modern musc, to give it that Carribean flavour, what a brew, there you have it, one of the biggest sellers of 1979 from the Morning Dance album & it wasnt a Disco track either
This is the song that did it for me back in 1982. After hearing it, I became a Spyro Gyra fan, and a jazz fan for life. Since that year, 1982, when I started college, jazz is all I listen to and I enjoy every second of it. My all time jazz songs are On the Stairs by Pat Martino and I'm Late, I'm Late by Stan Getz. I've seen Spyro Gyra live three times and loved it.
what a timeless hit! so glad this track was never a sitcom theme song or hugely famous from any movies , broadccasts or anything like that. that way we can attach our own wonderful memories to the music. For me, it's being on vacation in Florida as a kid and happy as can be! such a warm cheerful tune . Are there any others like it that are almost as good? plz suggest some!
I deeply hope that when we die and reach heaven, that we are given a choice of what period of our lives we'd like to spend eternity in...because for me it would be the mid/late 70's. With music like this, and Herb Alpert's "Rise", Rupert Holmes, Gino Vanelli, and just the quality of life back then...I'd be beyond happiness there with my wife.
From 1988 to 1994, I use to host the Sunday Morning Show on WCGO, 1600 AM, In South Chicago Heights, Illinois, and this was my show theme. Such a great song and such great memories.
I remember hearing this when my mom would be up early cleaning and cooking breakfast, I would lay in bed and wiggle my feet to the music and Bob my head, and thinking time to get up.... she's going to play earth, wind, & fire next.!!
