I was born in 1992, in Brooklyn. My parents are from Ukraine and Russia. When they arrived in the US they had nothing, they left all they gt in the motherland.
All ex Soviets people have been through a lot, when they stayed in or when they left their countries. In the US people think Russians are the ennemy. In Eastern europe they think US are the ennemy. I hope one day everyone will understand we are all humans, we are the same...that governments divide us but we are not different.
As an American I love my country, where i was born and raised, but my blood is 50% Ukrainian, 50% Russian. I have the incredible luck to have three countries, three families in my heart.
Long live Peace

I remember I was standing guard duty one night in 1986, watching the snow fall and listening to the radio, when this song came on, and I though, "Yeah, me too".
I just finished up a History of the Soviet Union class at my University...really interesting stuff...mostly we talked about the lives of Soviet citizens...and we read interviews with women veterans of WWII. Those people went through hell.
I am Russian and I would like to say that people and goverment are different things. Don`t think, please, that Russian are not human - it`s wrong. We hate wars and want to live in peace.
P. S. I am sorry for my mistakes in English)
I remember we interpret this song for a writing exercise in one of my language arts classes in middle school. She said, "When you all get older, make sure history won't repeat itself." Annd uhhh I'm 20 years old now and things are not going so well...
I was a young soldier when this cane out. I had just received my first classified brief on the Soviet T-80 tank. A comment by the Major giving the brief was "When the Russians cross the Fulda gap there will be hell to pay." Another Private jokingly asks "Yeah, but who will have to pay?" Our Platoon Sergeant responded with "All of us dumb ass." t occurred to me that somewhere there was another guy in that T-80 getting the mirror of that briefing; "When the Americans cross the Fulda gap......"
