Ray & I were friend in a butchers shop when we were 16/17 and had many a laugh down the cellar where we worked most of the time, ah the good old days.
Clive & Pamela Mainwaring
This original version is great but I still prefer The Lana Sisters & Al Saxon's version which came out later that same year in 1959 - They slightly improved the melody and the backing vocals are stronger - Also, Dusty Springfield is on the track!! Enjoy
That must've been a massive backseat, or they were very small girls. 1959 was, of course, before the days of compulsory seatbelt wearing and Operation Yewtree.
I'm an old music fanatic and am only 13, have a record player and have this on vinyl (among thousands of others). Ahh, this generation don't explore enough good music..
I was 12 when this song came out. Of course I remember it because there was no songs that were using Fred (my name) as their subject matter. Great Song!!!!!
