Best 'Tobacco Road' ever!

I saw them play this with the "Electric Suits"...in 1967

The song and album that my girlfriend from the BankAmerica branch in Emeryville and i used to freak out to in the early 70s when she would come by my place on lunch hour. Close to half a century ago!

That middle instrumental breakdown seems to have been an inspiration for The Velvet Underground when they wrote White Light/White heat and Sister Ray

One of the greatest cover songs ever!

And to think they were from the Bronx. Spooky Tooth covered it in 1968.

I thought so too, until I heard Spooky Tooth's cover on their first album. (In the U.S., in fact, the album was called "Tobacco Road.") But the Magoos' version is good clean trashy fun . . .

Call outs to other versions are missing the point of the Magoos' - classic Garage-trashy, a little goofy while ridiculously intense - not an easy balance to reach, btw - this is the one to lose your mind to!

Ahhh!!!...sounds similar to the band Mack Truck on Staten Island, in the '70's...they did it this way, only heavier...
