George Harrison may have been the first guitar player to use the 12 string electric guitar, but it was Roger McGuinn who took it Eight Miles High. Lol

My eldest sister dated Gene Clark. She loved him but he was gone too much. She married a poet instead. Still goes over to the Tipton, MO cemetery to lay some flowers on his grave whenever she's back this way.

Sounds as incredible today as it did then. One of the all-time great creative rock songs!

The album cover shows that grandpa was wearing skinny jeans back in the day! I miss the groups that could sing and harmonize together like the Byrds, Beatles, Mamas and the Papas etc. and the sound of that 12 string is the Byrd's signature sound. These days it is all solo big egos Auto-tuned to death.

"It's one of the few songs I've heard that I wish we'd written" , Phil Lesh, Grateful Dead...

Eight miles high and when you touch down You'll find that it's stranger than known Signs in the street that say where you're going Are somewhere just being their own Nowhere is there warmth to be found Among those afraid of losing their ground Rain gray town known for its sound In places small faces unbound Round the squares huddled in storms Some laughing some just shapeless forms Sidewalk scenes and black limousines Some living, some standing alon

One of the high watermarks of 60's rock music. A piece of art.

You don't have to take any chemical for this music to give you a buzz.

This heralded the beginning of psychedelic music. Beautiful - transcendent - mysterious - just Gene Clark was.
