I never thought that I would find myself
In bed amongst the stones
The columns are all men begging to crush me
No shapes sail on the dark deep lakes
And no flags wave me home
In the caves, all cats are grey
In the caves, the texture coats my skin
In the death cell, a single note rings on and on and on
Just a perfect song...helped me in many ways all in my life. Clean, sophisticated and somehow makes me feel much younger than I should feel... :-)
Thank You , Robert!
The songs on Faith have never been suicidal or depressing to me.
When I am really down, I go into a dark room, put on the album Faith on LOUD, lie down and let all my emotions drain away. It's the best therapy possible. It's saved me from many a depression! :-)
Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Cure and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily.
My brother and I would stay up late at night laying on the floor , staring at the ceiling , listening to Faith. We had raided our older sister's record collection .We were 12. It changed the way I think of things
5 days ago - my math teacher told me he could mathematically prove that "all cats are grey" using mathematical induction. I had no clue what he was talking about so I googled it. Ended up here. - changed my life - Still have no clue how to use mathematical induction...
This song was recorded in 1980 on an Ampex tape machine, one of the finest recording tools available at the time. That is why it sounds so good. A song and sound way, way ahead of it's time.

The Cure is like living in the dark for so long, and then opening your eyes, following a bright light that leads you out of the shadows, and listening to the rhymes of a lovely and strange man that can lull you to sleep or sing you awake anytime. I believe Robert Smith can heal any wound if you only give him the chance. After all, he is the Cure. ♥
I love this song Soo much I have always been a fan of slower depressing music but this has to be One of my all time favorites. I have been listening to them since the beginning No other band will ever be as good as "The Cure"
I remember listening to this when going from Venice to Geneva by car in autumn. The rain, the gray, the green and a lost love. Very sad but emotionally beautiful.
Just because people refer to this as a 'funeral song', does not make them maudlin or suicidal.....they may just possess the intelligence to have faced the truth of their mortality. Just saying....x
When this Album was released we had a group of 4-5 schoolfriends who would retreat to a dark room and listen to this for hours. Sarah Morgan where are you and the gang? Still one of my all time favourites.
