I get tired of people complaining about " Michael McDonald ruined the band". If they had any knowledge of the band and brains they would understand that when lead song writer guitarist/ singer Tommy Johnston went down in 1976 with ulcers, Michael McDonald was brought in to finish the tour. The members found out how talented he was, and people need to understand that Michael actually saved the band from extinction.
Yes a huge departure from the rock and roll beginnings, and Michael had a number of top ten songs as he took the band a different direction into the love song jazz era but right to the Grammys and into the 80's. If not so the band would have faded away like most of the other 70's classic rock bands.
The good news is that today the band again has retired to it's roots and revolves around Tommy and Patrick whomever come's and goes. What counts is that here we are 40 years later and the greatest American band is still filling the venues to capacity and are Rockin' Down The Highway..the cream always rises to the top.

Had a red Volkswagen bug with an inredible stereo and speakers that my ex installed. Doobie Brothers sounded SOOOOOOO darned good! Surprised I didn't get pulled over for having it turned up too loud. HA!

This was one of my cds of the doobie brothers I had once owned and loved including this song .but unfortunately I lost both cats during hurricane Florence I was NOT a happy camper that I must say sucked.
