A great album packed full of Sloan/Barri originals and strong efforts from the band. This album is up there with what The Byrds, LoVe and The Buffalo Springfield were also doing in '67.
Original: The Grass Roots ( U.S. ) - Tings I should have said ( P.F. Sloan - Steve Barri ) ( 7/1967 ). Covers: The John Schroeder Orchestra - Thngs I should have said ( 1967 ). Los Thunder Kings ( Mexico ) - Cosas que debí de hacer ( things I should have said ) ( 1968 ). Los Zignos ( Mexico ) - Lo que te debí decir ( 1969 ).
I side with Creed Bratton all the way. They should have stuck with this type of thing instead of all those superfluous horns and formulaic Top 40 hooey. Strictly my opinion, although I thought Midnight Confessions was a good song.
