Most folks remember the Spinners for their uptempo, good time songs, but their ballads really hit home for me back in the day. Philippe Wynne was such a presence on the radio back then, he is surely missed all these years later. I loved this song, and also "Love Don't Love Nobody" and "How Could I Let You Get Away".

"No, no, no... Livin' in this mean world, ooohhh it ain't easy..." Ain't that the honest truth. This song always gives me goose bumps but I always feel better after hearing it. Such an uplifting melody. I was in my mid-20's when this song came out and I've never grown tired of it through all these years. One of my all-time Spinners favorites.
