So weird that I haven't heard this song in years and I still know it word for word. Such a sweet song!!!

The mother of the Simpsons. If it weren't for her show in 1987 they never would have happened.

Love the Paul McCartney cameo at the end.

Met my wife in 84 when she was 14, and I 16. Still together. This is our song.

This such a unique single and video to see in '84. Tracy's 60's look was something that nobody else was doing in the early 80s. Dancing with the shopping cart was beautiful.

When the video was first out, I remember thinking it was a McCartney impersonator at the end. But that was the real deal. A good get any time but really good in 1984.

The harmonies of the overdubs are just transcendent and a perfect match for the wall-of-sound homage. Such a unique single in a sea of New Wave.

Kirsty MacColl wrote such beautifully-crafted songs about young love; I believe she was only seventeen when she wrote They Don't Know. The musicianship here is absolutely first rate, the vocal harmonies are sheer perfection (it's lovely to hear Kirsty's voice so prominent amongst the backing vocals). I could listen to this song all day long, but it's SO perfect that it makes me cry every time I play it - makes me wish I was that young all over again - when everything was fresh and exciting. THAT is the true power of a really great song/songwriter. Rest in peace, beautiful lady.

Her face after the gutter ball. The eye rolls. And ohhhhh the supermarket. The birth of a comedic genius. Like it was yesterday. Thanks MTV.

1:50 "Baby" is actually songwriter Kirsty MacColl's voice singing. She couldn't hit the high note, so she sampled it.

One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite pop albums of the 1980s: "You Broke My Heart in 17 Places." (& a fab video.)

Am I the only person in the world who counts this as the greatest song ever recorded? C'mon, there's got to be somebody else.
