This is my favorite album of all time! BTW the album cover (By David Willardson) was nominated for a grammy(1972?) Produced by David Givens, Featuring Jock Bartley on guitars (replacing Tommy Bolin) Candy Givens Singing and Harp and John Farris keyboards.
I discovered this album (and Zephyr) when my friend was flipping through records in the record store and liked the cover of this one, now it's in my all time Top 20!
This album is amazing! One the albums of Mom's I used to play over and over. It's also one of her albums she wouldn't let me move out of state with XD Can't say I blame her. Wish more people knew the group.
The way I knew how good Candy was is because of my Granpaw Crow...he could play! He had an old wooden box that housed his harps all neatly in rows, that no one touched but him. Hell he could play anything! Accordiann, manolin anything you put in his hands even banjo! But he was very quiet about his capabilities; shy in fact...he was a man of few words. But when he spoke everybody heard! And they'd damned well better listen; by Gawd! Lol! He taught me through silence...he was my idol, my mentor, my hero...I was his first grandbaby and everyone knew it. He was my ground root...thank you for sharing.
Candy had talent as a singer and on harmonica. I never saw a bad show and I went to dozens of them. Good on a record but better live, and in a bar setting they were outstanding. She could pull an audience into the music and send you off with a smile. Sad day when she died. Their vinyls are coveted by a loyal following.
