I love this song and album classic by Genesis. this came out in (1991) the year I was born Genesis be rocking when you have Phil Collins Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks all in together on every song playing every instrument music so amazing there 1991 album ''We Cant Dance'' is a classic than any other Genesis album I never heard there other albums they came out with like ''Selling England by The Pound'' (1973) but I like ''I Know What I Like In Your Wardrobe'' I like how the song and made the instrument of the whole song amazing when Peter Gabrial was in that group but I like Genesis (1983) album all of the songs were amazing also other CDs like Invisible Touch (1986) amazing records but Genesis was like that there success in the 1970s 1980s and 1990s has came a long way and made legacy for the world to remember there music forever I love ''Me & Sarah Jane'' from there 1981 album Abacab I like that ending song of it when instrument comes in Genesis is the group of our generation of great music.

I love how it starts off with the drum machine tempo and ends with "real" drums and the swirl of Tony's keyboards ala 70's prog-rock Genesis. I believe that we all could have been happy with a few more years of that Genesis prog-rock stuff...

3:04 - that's where the song really starts for me - getting better and better. The last glimpse of the real, epic, awesome Genesis I love. The best bit of the whole albnum for me. I was so disappointed with that album. Sure: "Invisible Touch" was worse - but that wasn't the glorious comeback of Geneses. "I can't Dance" WTF!!!???

No idea why I always thought this song was a bit nothing. Listening to it now, it's great! Maybe I'd never had the volume up high enough?

Tony's synth solo on this is brilliant. He has some real talent.

I'm from Athens Greece, i listen to music a lot, and i have to say that all the bands that i like are from England.. Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Deep purple, Black Sabbath, Jethro tull, Rolling stones, Led zepellin and Iron maiden, Saxon, Motorhead as a child... I'm sure i don't remember something else right now. What about the 1977 live version of Los Endos? In my very humble opinion that is the definitve Genesis instrumental. Still blows me away to this day. Duke's Travels comes a close second for me yep! Sure anything on We Can't Dance is watered down and somehow ill-fitting in parts (hip hop indpired rhythms, Tony trying to sound lke 80s pop bands, Mike trying to give a "blues/rock" edge to his guitar. It just doesn't work for me anyway.

This tune is incredibly underrated. Staying on the brushes until the instrumental section and then BANG big drums open up is so pro. The song structure is perfect. The lead lyrics and call and response backing vocals are beautiful. The synth leads and backround filler patches, guitar work staying crisp and tight, not overbearing..genius. Even the mix of the song itself is pure art. How everything stays very compact compared to when the sound field expands going into the solo sections is some amazing production work. Way to nail this one Genesis!
