I’ll be seeing you;
In all the old, familiar places;
That this heart of mine embraces;
All day through.
In that small cafe;
The park across the way;
The children’s carousel;
The chestnut tree;
The wishing well.
I’ll be seeing you;
In every lovely, summer’s day;
And everything that’s light and gay;
I’ll always think of you that way;
I’ll find you in the morning sun;
And when the night is new;
I’ll be looking at the moon;
But I’ll be seeing you.
I have always enjoyed Jackie Gleasons romantic music - but so little of the credit was given to trumpeter Bobby Hackett. The songs featuring him playing were the best on the albums.
My parents had this album when I was a kid. In addition to the music, which I thought was pretty, it was the album cover that I most remember. It looked so sophisticated to me with the cocktail and the fur stole and the dramatic pose told a story. A rich woman with the blues.
I remember me and my brother watching the Jackie Gleason show on saturday nights in my Aunt and Uncles farm house down in South Jersey. Different times, people had more to look forward to. Great memories now, how sweet it was .
I remember my dear sweetheart momma crying while listening cause she was so lonely my step dad was so unfaithful and broke her heart terribly bad. I'll always believe my momma died from a broken heart.
We use to love the Jackie Gleason Show on Saturday nights after hot dogs and beans my brother and I would have to get bathed and our pajamas on in order to watch this great show. What a treat!!!
HACKETT'S TRUMPET PLAYING WAS THE MAIN REASON THE ALBUMS SOLD SO WELL....I OWNED RECORD STORES BACK THEN IN BOBBY'S HOME TOWN ..PROVIDENCE RI HE WAS A DEAR FRIEND....HE PAYED AT MY COUSINS JAZZ CLUB...BOVI'S TAVERN ANYTIME HE WAS IN TOWN... 196O-1984
There are so many versions of this beautiful song from 1938 and loved by the WWII vets, but this is among the best of the instrumentals. It's also my life song as you know. Thanks K.
MY OLD FRIEND AND FELLOW RHODE ISLAND NATIVE ....BOBBY HACKETT WAS THE MASTER OF THE TRUMPET AND GLEASON ALWAYS FEATURED HIM PLAYING WONDERFUL ARRANGEMENTS !
