i heard Jelly Roll added the third verse after Frankie Dusen (another New Orleans musician) had taken a trip to LA, where Jelly was living at the time. Jelly insulted Dusens dress-sense to the point where Dusen told him if he ever saw him in New Orleans again, he'd kill him. so jelly added the verse insinuating dusen was a pimp, many musicians in new orleans at the time were, including jelly roll himself.
