I looked at the face of the clock on the wall
And it doesn’t tell me nothing at all
That face of the clock just stares at me
It knows I’m lonely and always will be
I want to cry my heart out
Want my baby back with me
Got nothing but time to step out
But time means nothing to me
If you hear me, please come back real soon
'Cause the clock and I are so lonely in this room
Instrumental break
I want to cry my heart out
Want my baby back to me
Got nothing but time to step out
But time means nothing to me
If you hear me, please come back real soon
'Cause the clock and I are so lonely in this room
I was eleven when Johnny Ace died, followed a few months later by James Dean. Zoot suits, pegged pants and Flagg Flyer box-toed shoes. Hair slicked back into a DA with Vaseline. The song that evokes this era best for me was "A Casual Look" by the Six Teens.
I never heard of anyone since that tragedy dying from or playing Russian Roulette. I started a high school R&R band, and we had to learn Pleading My Love, I Cross My Heart, and The Clock. This was around 1956-58 or there abouts. Loved Johnny Ace and so did the people we entertained.
johnny ace what an amazing singer with a wonderful tone many tribute songs where written when this guy died he left this mortal coil so young but left a brilliant legacy just listen too "pledging my love".
This was the first entertainer I ever got hooked on when I was still in high school. We couldn't believe it when we heard he killed himself in Houston.
Johnny Ace lived long before I was born but he will always be my favorite vocalists of all times. My favorite songs Pledging My Love, The Clock and Please Forgive Me. Oh and How Can you Be So Mean.
