You re my baby, you walked out of my dreams, eyes that sparkle and shine
you re beautiful and you re mine
you re my baby
You re sixteen, you re beautiful
Lips like strawberry wine, we fell in love on the night we met
so beautiful
And you re mine, you touched my hand
And into my car, you re sixteen
You re sixteen, you touched my hand Burnette, when we kissed i could not stop
you re beautiful and you re mine
when we kissed i could not stop
We fell in love on the night we met, you re beautiful and you re mine
you re sixteen
so beautiful
you re beautiful
And you re mine, you re beautiful
You walked out of my dreams, you re my pet, lips like strawberry wine
when we kissed i could not stop
you re beautiful
You re my baby, you re sixteen, you re my baby
You come on like a dream, peaches and cream
Lips like strawberry wine
You're sixteen, you're beautiful and you're mine
You're all ribbons and curls, ooh, what a girl
Eyes that sparkle and shine
You're sixteen, you're beautiful and you're mine
You're my baby, you're my pet
We fell in love on the night we met
You touched my hand, my heart went pop
Ooh, when we kissed I could not stop
You walked out of my dreams and into my arms
Now you're my angel divine
You're sixteen, you're beautiful and you're mine
You're my baby, you're my pet
We fell in love on the night we met
You touched my hand, my heart went pop
Ooh, when we kissed I could not stop
You walked out of my dreams, and into my car
Now you're my angel divine
You're sixteen, you're beautiful, and you're mine
You're sixteen, so beautiful, and you're mine
You're sixteen, you're beautiful, and you're mine
All mine, all mine, all mine
All mine, all mine, all mine

Nice posting. I am remembering the passing of Johnny's wife, Thurley Burnette, on December 23, 2008. I was privileged to talk to her via phone in the late 80s while she was working for Glen Campbell. She spent a good half hour reviewing Johnny's life and family with me. She also noted that Johnny and his brother Dorsey attended Memphis Catholic High School, not Humes H.S. where Elvis went, and that Johnny was not Catholic however.
When instrumentalist background music was added to pop song recordings like this, including those by Bobby Vee, Buddy Holly, and others of the time, what music that was! especially if you were 17, dating 16 year old girls (walking them home from the local bowling alley, ice skating, or taking them to the Friday night dances at the school gym), THIS was what you loved hearing back then, and dancing to if you could, that is, if you were lucky -- all the while hoping you could hold her hand afterwards, or she would hold yours, sweaty palms and all. Dream on, baby! What an exciting time that was -- and no drugs needed, either.
