I am English and recently got into the Dubliners learning their story and the sad early death of Luke this performance is surely magical and hard to hold back the emotions RIP Luke & Ronnie your wonderful music and ballards will live on for many years to come
How could a man in his state of health sing like this? Because he was Luke Kelly. Always in my heart my beautiful friend. I have never ceased to feel privileged to hear your voice.
I'm not an Irishman and have not heard much of Irish music either. But after I listened to this song once, got hooked to it. I guess thats the magic of music and the legend of Luke Kelly.. R.I.P Sir...
i worked on this! it was the first time the late late show allowed an artist to pre record a song! all knew this would be his last! his self chosen epitaph! it wasn't part of there normal set! its complicated lyrics had the band afraid that he might not remember the words! you can see it in their faces! he did it in one take! determined to the end! I'm glad i was there!
Can’t listen to this song without a tear in my eyes , we will never see his like again: makes me sad for the young ones that will never hear this super star
the dubliners where honest men with fortitued beyond all belief...they came from a class of man that no longer exists except in the minds of the wishful...luke kelly was the greatest folk singer of all time...the voice of a king of singers...
in 1990, on my 18 birthday, I was in hospital, being very sick. The worst was the nights, cuz I could not sleep. One night, this song was on some nightradio show, and something just clicked... I had to go and learn more about this amazing singer... To my sorrow, I found out, that he had died some years before... But still, here we are, almost 30 years later, I still love Luke Kelly, and I can honestly say, that his voice helped me that night in the hospital....
What 44 gobshites disliked this video. This man was a legend and stayed strong right to the end. R.I.P Luke. Your twentieth anniversary is fast approaching
Just stumbled on this song by chance two days ago. To be honest, I just can’t stop listening to it. Never knew who Luke was nor heard any of his songs, but reading through all the comments, I conclude he was a true legend. RIP.
