I had neighbors like this. They had two huskies in a cage in their garden in catford. She threw plates at him at 2 am and got arrested for domestic abuse

Sometimes I feel like the vocalists in "Man Next Door" and "Spying Glass" are singing about each other lol.

Is this the first ever song about a noise complaint?

One of the best song intros I have ever heard. I get shivers every time I hear this.

Led Zeppelin drums, Dub Bass, Reggae Singing, Punk guitars, DJ production. Somehow they've made these elements transform into something entirely original, focusing only on tone and mood. Way ahead of any remix-quick-edit-chopped-vocal-sample-pack-library garbage that dominates so much of the trip hop influenced music these days...

Call it Trip Hop. Massive Attack, although they reject that label, are and will be the parents of that trippy hip hop, that rhythm drenched in darkness that sounds like rusty knives cutting the sky. That genre, the last great genre of the 90s, that takes essence from dub, jazz, soul, rap and rock. That genre that turned the critics upside down tried to invent a name for it. Too vast to pigeonhole it in electronic, too dark for rock; very powerful to frame it in anything else. A devastating sound, which at times seems to have been torn from the nightmare of a madman, or from the murky imaginations of a science fiction magician. So transcendent that he influenced many bands after himself, creating with him the famous Bristol Sound.

Horace's performance of this makes me wanna cry, even though the lyrics aren't that sad, his singing is like a combination of an old Japanese woman/man and Michael Jackson soaking every line with emotion.

Add irony to this song about a sound complain of the guy next door to you by putting this song full blast on some sub woofers. Ultimate irony.

There is a man that live next door In my neighborhood In my neighborhood And he gets me down... He gets in so late at night Always a fuss and fight Always a fuss and fight All through the night I've got to get away from here This is not a place for me to stay I've got to take my family We'll find a quiet place Hear the pots and pans they fall Bang against my wall Bang against my wall No rest at all He gets in so late at night Always a fuss and fight Always a fuss and fight All through the night I've got to get away from here This is not a place for me to stay I've got to take my family We'll find a quiet place

The artist is singing in Jamaican English; he's saying: "Always a fuss and fight." I find his pronunciation very attractive/sensual; he reminds me of Dennis Brown.
