Boy brought power
To b-obey
Hear me call
To b-obey
To b-obey
I seek him clothe
Come shush-hush
A shrewd bow to b-obey (we are but bound to b-obey)
I seek him clothe (we are but bound to b-obey)
Come shush-hush (we are but bound to b-obey)
A shrewd bow to b-obey (we are but bound to b-obey)
I seek him clothe (we are but bound to b-obey)
Come shush-hush
I always imagine this song to be a sort of "Future English" - when the environment is fully destroyed, a couple hundred years from now a la Rachel Carson and humans are basically reliant on technology, or dying in the apocalyptic wasteland, and this is the theme song to it.
To me. It's about 2 people who are in love. But one of them wont acknowledge the love between them because there is pain from their past she doesn't want to live...she remembers the freedom he brought to her..and how he made her feel. But he was struggling with so many things internally and externally. He was lost. She kept him in check. She became part of his loneliness. He was happy to be alone with her. But she could only take so much. Now they are apart, he is lost in his mind and she is in loveless relationship. She would rather please others in her life and live life by their standards. For that she is alone. She is dying inside everyday and so is he. But their lost love that lingers in their minds keeps them living. Whether they know it or not.
"I think the reason we wanted to put the demo version of ‘Silent Spring’ on the second disc was cause it was really unplanned and spontaneous, just a totally incomplete demo with a made-up language, unfinished but beautiful."
Straight from MA.
Ive had writers block for weeks now. About ready to scrap this whole thing. This song came up on Massive Attack radio and I kid you not, I've had this on repeat and writing four six hours straight. This song has done something to me.
They wrote the lyrics phonetically, as a haitian or creole person would speak english hence making it sound french (because its from people who also speak french, and/or have it mixed with their language)
