Who's still listening to this beautiful song in 2020??? Or has seen this wonderful movie (Tootsie) Something's telling me that it might be you. Keep safe and God bless.
I love the ambiance of the 80's, style, fashion, cars, simplicity of life, movies, music, not so crowded, not so high tech. And most of all, those are our times. We were young.
Whenever I hear this song, it is 1982 again (at least in my memory and imagination), and I am waiting for my dad as he gets ready to teach at community college. I was 9 years old back then, and now I wonder if my dad, who is now almost 80, remembers. It was a difficult relationship, especially since my dad suffered from anxiety/depression and alcoholism. As an adult and almost 40 years later, I understand my dad as a person, and it is easier to forgive his verbal and emotional fury. I only hope that my dad, who now struggles with memory loss, remembers me, and I hope that I made him proud.
When I first met my husband he used to record cassettes for me to play in my car. This tune was on the first cassette he gave me 17 years ago .....he was such a romantic .... maybe it's you I've been waiting for all of my life. The cassette is long gone and on the 18th December it will be the 2nd anniversary of his death. Memories and music will always live on. I miss him. Every. Single. Day.
In 1980 I turned 32. And for the next 10 years I was in music heaven. Boy, what a marvelous musical decade. I mean, the 60s and 70s music was good. But the 80s were in a class by themselves. If we could only go back to those days.
