I heard this on the radio the other day and cried, it didn't affect me when in 1987 when I was 17 like it does now that I'm an single Dad who had a good childhood and raised my kids the same. There's too many Lukas in the world though, I wonder if Suzanne knows how many lives she might have saved with this song.

My mother was abusive and I really connected with Luka. I remember her losing her temper with me because I'd lost my slippers, I was five, anyway she found them and threw them at me and they hit me straight in the eye. She was so scared and made me rehearse some bull's hit story to tell my teacher at school...she wouldn't let me leave until it was word perfect and stood over me while I told the teacher. It was the first time I thought to myself: She knows this is wrong. This song gave me a lot of hope.
