This is a truly amazing and emotional song to me, my Dad chose it to be played at his funeral when he was dying. He died at the age of 49 and this song reduces me to tears whenever I hear it. I wish I had known my Dad more, this song reminds me of the emotional person he really was. Love you Daddy xxxx
Thanks so much for putting this out there. In 1964, the love of my life said this was our song.. We were in a crowded restaurant with no dance floor, but when the song was played on the jukebox, he stood up and pulled me up and we slow danced to this song. We married that year and were married 52 years, until three months ago, he died of lymphoma. I picked this song for his funeral. He would have liked it.
Tony Williams had a voice sent from heaven. There's something very relaxing, and romantic, about walking the ocean shoreline with the waves crashing in. Especially if you have the right person by your side. It seems to wipe away your troubles, even if only for a while.
When I was a kid my grandfather would play this every morning since he always liked dancing and singing and I remember every single one of those memories, but he passed away recently and everytime I listen to this song it just brings me to tears, I always hear this song in his voice. I miss you
I don't know if any other group has ever matched the haunting elegance and beauty of The Platters. Even though they helped define the sound of R&B in the 1950s there is an otherworldly quality about them that seems to transcend time.
EBB TIDE
First the tide rushes in
Plants a kiss on the shore
Then rolls out to sea
And the sea is very still once more
So I rush to your side
Like the on-coming tide
With one burning thought
Will your arms open wide
At last we're face to face
And as we kiss through an embrace
I can tell, I can feel
You are love, your are real
Really mine in the rain
In the dark, in the sun
Like the tide at its ebb
I'm at peace in the web of your arms
