This song means so much to me. One of my siblings is clinically narcissistic, and has manipulated and used me my whole life. Each time she hurt me, she would make me feel as though everything was my fault. I would crawl back to her and pour all my trust and love into her hands. And she used it. She liked to see me hurting. This song helped me get away, and to learn that I do not need her false love and approval. I hope everyone can know that they do not need to stay with the people who hurt them. Please, if you're reading and you have someone who crushes you, know this; Even if it hurts you to separate yourself from this person, it is worth it. The fear of going away from them cannot stop you from getting to a healthier place. This applies to those who hurt themselves, mentally and physically. You are worth more than you believe. God loves you!

I met my boyfriend since I was in high school. I'm 26 this year, we're ready for a marriage. But his parents were against with our relationship. When she was asked about the meaning of the song, she said this: "We sometimes go too far for the approval and love of someone else, when we should really just learn to love ourselves and that should be enough."
