Teddy Wilson is so under-rated

I used to crack up about how my Dad would say this was the thing when he was young. But now that I'm listening to it for the FIRST time, I have to say, it's pretty awesome. And that's coming from a 70's and 80's hard rock fan. ha ha ha wow

A lovely trio performing this timeless Henry Creamer and Turner Layton song, must have been really something to listen to back then (;

Trio, quartet, sextet, big band whatever the milieu he's the greatast ever. I grew up in the rocknroll era but have always been lost in the thirties and forties. Saw Benny live twice in the seventies. Of course he didn't have the chops of his earlier years but it was a thrill just the same, Saw a young upstart named Warren Vache join him for a gig at the then Garden State Art Center. Great show.

1} Benny Goodman on clarinet, Teddy Wilson on Piano, and Gene Krupa on drums. 2} Dance/Swing 3} A1 – A2 w/four measure extension; alternatively,  A1 – B – A1 – C – A2 if broken down into 4 –measure phrases 4} Has a sound that sounds like it was originally a Blues version, that is modernized by the trio into a swing/dance number.

Did goodman make a mistake by going to the head around 2:13 and they just copy and pasted a new take after it in the studio?

What can you say? This is the very best by the very best. Absolutely incredible performance.
