My grandmother was from Rosine, Kentucky and dated Bill Monroe!!! I grew up going to Rosine for the Bluegrass Festival. I love all types of music, but bluegrass is close to my heart.
LOL, I thought I was the only one! I wish I could find a full length version of Boomhauer goin off, oh man, when he first starts off and bellers out Blue Moon of Kentucky...it gives me cold chills, and gets me all wound up at the same time!
Bill Monroe was the man! By the way, Lucixir's comment below is just plain silly. Bill Monroe defined bluegrass. He coined the word. Bill Monroe's voice will go down as one of, if not, the greatest in this genre.
March 15, 1996 - Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe makes what becomes his final appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. He ended his touring and playing career in April, following a stroke. Monroe died on September 9, 1996, in Springfield, Tennessee, only four days before his 85th birthday. Rest in peace Mr. Monroe.
