Just reminding everyone that you are allowed to like both versions of this song dylan and hendrix without having to devalue the other, so sad to see a great song plagued with ignorant comments

theory: Bob Dylan is an ancient entity who wrote every known song in existence, but he appears in the heads of people who reimagine his works

Nobody should be able to communicate so much with so little. Bob Dylan is the king of songwriting forever.

Somehow the Dylan version suits the lyrics so much better - melancholic and philosphical. It grabs and holds harder, leaving some sad but also pleasant feeling after listening to it.

Dylan is unsurpassable when it comes to songwriting and storytelling. Although I prefer the Hendrix version, it's a shame that Dylan doesn't really get the credit he deserves for this song

What if Bob Dylan sang while Jimi Hendrix played? That would be phenomenal.

(I heard that) When Bob heard Jimmy Hendrix’s cover of this he no joke said that it was no longer a Bob Dylan Song, it was a Hendrix song. Edit: Jimi

In the Hendrix version, the music takes priority over the lyrics. Not so with Dylan's original production where the power of the lyrics reigns supreme.

Lyrics: "There must be some way out of here" Said the joker to the thief "There's too much confusion I can't get no relief Businessmen, they drink my wine Plowmen dig my earth None of them along the line Know what any of it is worth" "No reason to get excited" The thief, he kindly spoke "There are many here among us Who feel that life is but a joke But you and I, we've been through that And this is not our fate So let us not talk falsely now The hour is getting late" All along the watchtower Princes kept the view While all the women came and went Barefoot servants too Outside, in the distance A wildcat did growl Two riders were approaching The wind began to howl
