Put this song in a time capsule. Two thousand years from now, some alien lifeforms will discover it and weep at its beauty.

Sadly forever relevant. The reason this transcends time is that we humans never learn. Thanks this song to exist

Bob Dylan is a lyrical genius. His songs are so profound, that he is the most covered artist in the history of modern music. This song is timeless.

a couple years ago when i was starting high school, my grandpa sat me down and played this song. he told me to listen to the words. we talked about how important the song was and how it affected him when he first heard it back in high school. one of the more special experiences i’ve ever had. it was from that experience that i fell in love with bob’s music.

I always interpreted the line, "the answer is blowin' in the wind", as indicating that the answer is there, we can all see it, it's tangible, but every time we reach out it just blows in the wind. We all know how to not be violent and treat each other with dignity, yet we always fail somehow, no matter how hard we seem to try.

How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? How many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind Yes, 'n' how many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea? Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free? Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head And pretend that he just doesn't see? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind Yes, 'n' how many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind
