I heard this on a new CBS show called "Pure Genius" and had no idea it was Bruce Springsteen. I've never heard his falsetto

I don't need your answered prayers Or the chains your lover wears I don't need your rings of gold Or the secrets that you hold Lift me up, darling Lift me up and I'll fall with you lift me up Let your love lift me up I don't need your sacred vow Or the promise tomorrow brings There behind the morning clouds I'll take the faith the daylight brings Lift me up, darling Lift me up, and I'll fall with you lift me up Let your love lift me up When the morning bright Lifts away this night And the light above We will find our love, we will find our love Your skin, your hand upon my neck This skin, your fingers on my skin This kiss, this heartbeat this breath This heart, this heart this wilderness Lift me up darling Lift me up and I'll fall with you lift me up Let your love lift me up Read more: Bruce Springsteen - Lift Me Up Lyrics | MetroLyrics

Just magnificent....Springsteen is the most gifted songwriter and live performer of all time as far as I am concerned.

I just told someone I wasn't a Bruce Springsteen fan the other day - then I hear this. I stand corrected.

This is a very beautiful song. I can relate to the lyrics as they remind me of times of trauma when I needed support and friends, but no one was there. While it is nice to have nurturing and supportive friends, those friends are impermanent. I have found that ultimately we must lift ourselves up. There is no way to happiness, Happiness is the way.

This is the sort of song which demonstrates the true unique genius of Bruce Springsteen as a songwriter. So many people just see him as a great rocker and american troubador, whereas the reality is than he can write such a wide range of material and has done so brilliantly over a 40 year period. Absolutely nobody can compare with him when it comes to consistancy of quality over such a period of time. Lift me up is a beautiful, evocative song.

I love this song, it gives people with mental illness hope and courage . It somehow feels like helps me to be strong. It relaxes my soul and brings me peace. I hope it brings other people peace. Thank you for this song.

Anyone listening in 2020? Did you know Bruce did EVERYTHING on this song? All vocals, all instruments, all recording....this is entirely the work of one man.

absolutely crushed by this at the end of Show Me A Hero. devastating. Bruce's music is so perfect in the way it was used in that series.

Bruce said that he wanted the song to be airy, ethereal. It amazes me that this song can be simultaneously so ethereal yet so weighty and immense. It might be easy to mistake this as a song of grief, given the mournful final minute. For me, it’s a song of intense longing, mixed with loneliness.

As Bruce gets older his music becomes much more haunting. It seems as if he is exploring more of where he can take his music and I find this so damn awesome. Bruce always could kick some ass and now he is just getting better!

First heard this in the 1999 movie "Limbo," then again in the HBO min-series "Show Me A Hero." Just a beautiful song
