Seriously, my deathbed record is Art Tatum's "September Song", but -- if I can hang on long enough -- Hawkins' version of this beautiful song is what I want to hear next!
Night Hawk (album)
Recorded; December 30, 1960.
Personnel:
Coleman Hawkins, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis - tenor saxophone
Tommy Flanagan - piano
Ron Carter - bass
Gus Johnson - drums.
I've been listening to this all day. Didn't much else done except change the bed linens, A horrible incident when the floor lamp in my room fell over -- yes, glass and broken lightbulbs everywhere. Still kept going with the above saxophonist to keep me company and soothe my nerves. It's 8:29 P.M. on the East Coast and I still haven't brushed my teethe or eaten dinner. Well there's always tomorrow! Syonara
