This song sounds vastly more "Country" than today's so-called "Country" music ..... great song ...

This is so weird because I live in Lodi and it is such a small town.

This is a songwriter's song....I lived these words in the 60'sand 70's as a traveling musician...BUT, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Now I am a retired old Pharte playing folk music

This was one of my brother's favorite bands. He passed away a little over 6 months ago..... He was only fifteen and already had a great taste in music. CCR will always remind me of him.

You know what, this CCR classic sounds great today as it did 45 years ago. This is truly timeless music!!!

Lodi, California.  "The song describes the plight of a down-and-out musician whose career has landed him playing a gig in the small town of Lodi (pronounced "low-die"), a small agricultural city in the Central Valley about 70 miles from Fogerty's hometown of Berkeley."

John Fogerty had one of the most unique sounds of the late 60's and early 70's. Great rockers from Northern california, who selected a Cajun' sound. Fogerty sounded like he was from Louisiana. He is a great guitarist and song writer. CCR was played more in Vietnam than any other band. Loved in the states too. JC Fogerty just brilliant and still going strong.

Possibly CCR's best ever song - a timeless classic. Everyone who has experienced profound disappointment in their lives can identify with this.

This song makes me remember the good old hard times. I was 23 just after being deployed from Nam. I was struggling to find some work, went to NY to Boston doing all kinds of job. Tough times for me but it made me who I am today.

Just about a year ago I set out on the road Seekin' my fame and fortune Lookin' for a pot of gold Thing got bad things got worse I guess you will know the tune Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again I rode in on the Greyhound I'll be walkin' out if I go I was just passin' through Must be seven seven months or more Ran out of time and money Looks like they took my friends Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again The man from the magazine Said I was on my way Somewhere I lost connections Ran out of songs to play I came into town, a one night stand Looks like my plans fell through Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again If I only had a dollar For ev'ry song I've sung And ev'ry time I had to play While people sat there drunk You know, I'd catch the next train Back to where I live Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again

"....Rode n on a Greyhound..." reminds me of coming back to "The World" and going thru Norton AFB n CA, taking an Amtrak to NM then a Greyhound back to AZ, getting off the bus along I-40 out n the middle of nowhere, trudging thru the roadside thickets n my uniform carrying my seabag then hiking 3-4 miles north back to my grandparents' ranch. The young marine i was then retraces his steps over and over still today out there n that barren AZ plateau country. My grandparents r long gone, the ranch is no more. If u happen to drive along that old graveled road sum day long after ive taken my post alongside my fellow marines guarding the Golden Streets of Heaven u may just c a young marine marching home lugging a seabag anxious to c his grandparents again. Wave if u c him. Itll bring a smile to my mug. Semper Fi
