Ever since I was a child, this kind of music would bring me to tears. And it still does. I am 74 now and still succumb now. It is my achilles heel. I learn to live with it.

A friend gave me a cassette of Eva when cassettes were happening. And just like many of you, I was an instant fan. I don’t care what she sings, I cry.

If tomorrow mankind had to migrate to a new planet....this would be one of the songs to take....

Tomorrow, I am one week into my chemo. I listen to this song nearly every night. It haunts me, it is perfection.

I'm a grown ass man and every I listen to the angel singing, my eyes turn fluid. My goodness. She messes me up emotionally. Forever an inspiration

Eva said she was always critical of her own guitar playing, she never thought of herself as “good enough.” Millions disagree. She died of melanoma. Were it not for her boyfriend and her family, none of her recordings would have been published.

A voice, guitar, and piano. Nothing more is needed to captivate and take me back to happier times. Simply beautiful but so bittersweet. Oct, 2019.

...and to think: cancer is ravaging her body as she is conjuring...summoning...these divine vocals. How is this even possible?

Eva sang. And everyone who listened understood. Everything.

Tomorrow, 11-2-19, it will be 23 years since Eva left us. Every year on the anniversary I find myself drawn to this song, and "Over the Rainbow". And I still cry, after 23 years.

I am a musician. How I had never heard of Eva Cassidy, I don't know. What I can tell you though is that the first time I heard this song, I was mesmerized. I listened to it no less than 20 times in a row. It's perfect. Truly perfect. What's even more amazing is that it almost didn't get out because it was done live and the first night the recording never was recorded by mistake and the second night, Eva was sick and she was not happy with how it sounded... not happy with how it sounded? It's perfect. It haunts me. No one could ever do this song better. No one. What a tragedy to lose her so young.

She was not of this world, she belonged to the unseen realm, where the angels live .. in His mercy He gave us Eva for 33 years ... to witness what heaven sounds like

Everyone commenting on her voice, but her mastery of playing the guitar as its own entity like that is no easy task.

I've heard Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald sing this song...beautifully. They sang it. This woman owned it. She took it apart, re-assembled it, infused it with her soul, her passions, her dreams and gave it to us. It was as if I had never heard it before. She not only gave something new to me, she drew something out of me. Her love for song aroused my love for listening. She danced with me...in a sense. I am touched. RIP Eva.

Man, I remember when I discovered this. It was during the worst time of my life and I swear she saved me.
