There's a song in the musical "Hair" called "Donna", about "looking for my Donna". I think here the reference may be to a woman who is to be compared to the Madonna (not to be confused with Madonna the singer who has been a big star since the 1980s). And speaking of putting a syllable in front of Donna, there's also "Lady Madonna" by the Beatles.

oH MY!!! I totally forgot about this song.....LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! It was on the B-side on something else because I had all his hits during the 50s. I still have the 45s!!! Awesome and sort of eerie song....sort of on the lines of Mecca.
