You Only Live Twice or so it seems,
One life for yourself and one for your dreams.
You drift through the years and life seems tame,
Till one dream appears and love is its name.
And love is a stranger who’ll beckon you on,
Don’t think of the danger or the stranger is gone.
This dream is for you, so pay the price.
Make one dream come true, you only live twice.
And love is a stranger who’ll beckon you on,
Don’t think of the danger or the stranger is gone.
This dream is for you, so pay the price.
Make one dream come true, you only live twice.
(from James Bond 007 — You Only Live Twice, 1967)
"You only live twice; once when you're born, and once when you look death in the face." - some proverb at the beginning of Ian Fleming's book of the same name..
They could really write songs in those days.
Nancy was very nervous about doing this song for the movie. She even asked the producers, if they were sure they wanted her, and not Shirley Bassey. I personally, think she did a great job.
Without doubt the best Bond song. Nancy was so nervous when recording it,knowing it's significance. She could only sing the song in short bursts and the whole thing was eventually put together by the sound engineers. Sounds great, and you can't hear the joins.
