When I broke up with my gf many years ago, the song Company had such a huge effect on me. It helped me understand how sad I would be for my whole life if I let her get away. So I asked her to marry me. We were married for 25 years. The happiest time of my life. Breast cancer took her from me 3 years ago. Now the song has new meaning. Thank you RLJ.

I want this song played at my funeral. I love it so much. The chords are very unique and difficult to imitate as a pianist. And her singing is nothing less than angelic. Very spiritual.

This is the type of artist  that I think of when I see the current crop of pop divas and their videos.  Thank God for artists like Rickie Lee Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Annie Lennox, Linda Ronstandt, Debra Harry, Pat Benatar...B52's.  Excuse me. I got carried away ;)

This song perfectly describes the way I felt when I looked at a man with whom I was deeply in love; and I also felt certain that the relationship couldn't last. I was mourning in advance for what I knew would be a deeply painful breakup. We battled it out for 4 years, and yes, the ending was devastating. There has never been a more brilliant debut than Rickie Lee's.

Old wounds, thought forgotten... guess we have to live with them like notches in the tree -  for would we ever wish not to have felt that love, to have been in that company....

This album was the anthem of my youth. 1979 and I would shut the world out and tune in and turn on. Ricki said it for me. My favorite Album ♡

My little brother Eric said to me have you ever heard of Rickie Lee & I told him I hadn't & he told me you have to here this girl sing! he handed me her album and said at least listen to one song called Company, well, I never did until after his tragic death, killed by a drunk driver. Some time after I rememberd his wish and put on Company and listened to it, there's nothing that has ever touched me more than my girl Rickie Lee and her song Company, just listen to the words and you'll understand why its just to hard for to listen to!  Love you Rickie! & forever, you Eric  R.I.P.

This is so vivid for music. Such clarity and zero confusion about how you should feel. Rickie can just reach down caress your soul. Feeling sad never felt so good....

'Company' has been a part of my life since the album came out in 1979. I've turned to it at many pivotal moments in my life. It captures the feeling of loss and an endless internal connection so eloquently.

Tied with Last Chance Texaco for favorite cut of mine on her debut album.  An intensely bittersweet memoir of love lost which continues to move me, 30+ years after I first heard it. And I'm still cryin'...

I began listening to Rickie Lee Jones when I was twelve. (forty years ago). My older sister turned me on to her. She was 16 and my life source. I grieved when she left. Our family was so fractured. Everything hurt. I learned to grieve so many losses with Rickie Lee speaking and singing in beautiful one of a kind tones. There is only one RLJ sound. I am amazed at how I relied on her through the decades. She is brilliance in my ears and soul. Thank you Rickie.

I lost my father in 1979.I always think of him when I hear this song. I was 15 and I regret being a rebellious teenager. I hope he knows how much I love him.
