but they won t getcha
on the night train
he s right behind us
Here she comes, concrete is wheeling by
Broken like valiums and chumps in the rain, on the night train
Here she comes, i m safe here with you
he s right behind us
On the night train, i m safe here with you Lee, and i m reachin so high for ya
With a ticket for a train, concrete is wheeling by, don t let em take me back
on the night train
I m safe here with you, cuz i m right here witcha
i m safe here with you
broken like valiums and chumps in the rain
Saint cadillac, that cry and quiver
That cry and quiver, broken like valiums and chumps in the rain Lee, down at the end of a lullaby
on the night train
broken like valiums and chumps in the rain
Wlakin with my baby in my arms, with a ticket for a train
surely mine will deliver me there
here i m going
Cuz i am in the wrong end of the eight ball black, cuz i am in the wrong end of the eight ball black, surely mine will deliver me there
Cuz i m right here witcha, wlakin with my baby in my arms
Broken like valiums and chumps in the rain, i m safe here with you
And the devil, broken like valiums and chumps in the rain
cuz i m right here witcha
With a ticket for a train, with a ticket for a train
When a blue horizon is sleeping in the station, concrete is wheeling by
surely mine will deliver me there
I have loved Rickie Lee Jones forever but somehow missed this song. It is so beautiful and soothing. Sometimes it feels like she is an angel sent to sooth me in my times of need.
Just this one song alone can convince anybody that Rickie Lee Jones is a real classic. You can't compare her to anyone. Her voice is an ocean of emotions, and you can swim in it any time :-)
My wedding song was " horses", and even though we divorced, drug a child through the mud, every time I listen to it. I will always remember the great times we have... I do every. Time I hear her, however when I hear company I think bout my father/ best friend.
Her music always reminds me of the scruffy little people living on the edge of the night, trying to make do when all seems to be against them. The ones in a coffee shop at 3am, or the bus station, or any of those places where the regular folks are nowhere to be seen,
Rickie has a way of touching you deep in your soul. No matter what mood I am in, I'm always in the mood for RLJ music. Thank you, Rickie for doing what you do.
I was walking by the FOX Theatre in Atlanta one night. The stage doors were open and the techs were conducting a sound check....and this beautiful, haunting piece was wafting out...a Kodak moment for me. Ricki never was recognized as the musical genius she truly exeplifies.
