I remember dancing to this in '66/'67 in south Wales when I was 15/16 and my heart was touched by that line 'See what lovin' has done to me'. Tamla Motown could always do that!
LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THIS SONG. LIKE A FEW OTHER MOTOWN ACTS, THE HITS WERE JUST NOT THERE EARLY ON. BUT AS THEY SAY " WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS." AFTER THE FIRST HIT, THEY KEPT COMING.
Holland-Dozier-Holland, the Funk Brothers and so many others were geniuses. This
song, like so many of the Supremes and the Four Tops, is stupendous, will never be
equaled, let alone surpassed. I grew up on Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers, Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven, Sid Bechet. The best of Motown, like this, is
as timeless and well wrought as the best Chicago/New Orleans 1920s jazz.
Oh Billy...those were the days when I was so in love with you and I never thought it would end. I'm going to always think only of you and our young love. It was the best. RIP my dear husband..,
