WOW...I'm having vague memories of this song...for some reason I thought it was Either the Three Degree or the Jones girls...it has that Gamble and Huff sound about it...I am definintely becoming reaquainted with the 70's Supremes and loving them all over again...I agree...this line up of Mary, Scherrie and Susaye was good...esp for the mid/late 70's sound of Motown.

This is from 1976's "Mary, Scherrie & Susaye," the Supremes' last studio LP before disbanding in '77. This tune's excellent mood music or sheet music, as Barry White called it and it kinda sounds like something he would've written around that time. Same goes for "High Energy," the title track from the LP the group released earlier the same year.

Vocally the Supremes were at their best with this line up. I thought maybe Motown would take the girls back to the top. So many unfortunate elements got in the way and killed the group off.

I wish they'd been able to make it to say 1980...the mid to late 70s was a great time sound wise for R&B...the 70s in general were. And I think this line up ws good for the tranforming times.

I love the 70's Supremes. I have this album, with Mary's autograph. This isn't one of my favorite songs on it, though it's okay. "You're My Driving Wheel" and "I Don't Want to be Tied Down" get those honors.

And speaking of The '70s Anthology.... "We Should Be Closer Together" and "Let Yourself Go" are my fave songs - especially "You're My Driving Wheel", and their remake of Dionne Warwick's classic "You Are The Heart Of Me" (which Mary did an beautiful lead).
